The Ministry of Education (MoE) has issued the 2025 academic calendar for both basic education schools and Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs).
According to a circular dated October 18, 2024, signed by the Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang’, primary schools will begin term 1 on January 6 and end on April 4, 2025, while term 2 will begin on April 28 and end on August 1. Third term will begin on August 25 until October 24, 2025.
Secondary schools will also begin term 1 on January 6 and end on April 4, with the half term running from February 26 to March 25. Term 2 will begin on April 28 and end on August 1. The half-term break will run from June 25 to June 29.
The third term will begin from August 25 to October 24, paving way for Form 4 candidates to sit their KCSE exams from November 3 to November 21. The schools will reopen on January 2, 2026.

The calendar dates for Diploma Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) are as follows; Term 1 runs from January 6 to April 4, 2025. They will break for April holiday on April 7 until May 2, 2025.
Term 2 begins on May 5 until August 1, with a break for August holiday from August 4 to 29 the same month. Third term starts on September 14 to November 14 before the December holidays which starts on November 17 and ends on January 2, 2026.
