President William Ruto has said the governments will construct more than 3,500 new classrooms to accommodate the increased enrollment of children in schools in Nairobi County.

The President made the remarks during the opening of the Lenana School Primary tuition block and handing over of school uniforms to more than 2,500 learners in Ng’ando, Dagoretti South Constituency on January 13, 2025.

President Ruto said the government is committed to addressing education challenges facing the country. Additionally, it was announced that the government had allocated KSh1 billion to every constituency for the construction of the classrooms; each constituency received Ksh 58 million.

In the recent past, the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) has constructed 250 classrooms in the county while the Ministry of Education has constructed 500 classes, and a total of 1,220 classrooms will be completed.

The governments will also allocate KSh1 billion to the constituencies in the county in the next financial year, which will see the construction of more classrooms.

The President said the government is dedicated to supporting education in the country, noting that implementation of CBS has been successful and has solved issues surrounding university funding.
