The government has finally started reconstructing the Nyamache Bridge in Bobasi. It collapsed two years ago, causing challenges for Nyamache Riambase and Gionseri secondary and primary school schoolchildren.
Area MP Innocent Obiri, who commissioned the construction, said the government is committed to improving education and agriculture by enhancing the roads and bridges that facilitate transportation.
“Without good roads and bridges, we cannot achieve quality education and trade, as both rely directly on a strong communication network,” he said.
The MP regretted the delay in the government’s response to his financial request to rebuild the bridge but expressed his happiness that help had finally arrived.

He advised parents to encourage their children to use alternative paths to reach school. He warned against using the bridge under construction for safety reasons.
He assured the community that the bridge would be ready for use by the end of June this year. He urged the public to stay clear of the construction site to allow the contractors to work efficiently.
“I ask you to report to the police anyone found vandalizing the construction materials, as that is a crime,” he added.
The MP was accompanied by Masige West MCA Jacob Bagaka and Eng Kevin Ogechi.
He mentioned that his NG-CDF office has allocated more than 70 million shillings this financial year to support educational development projects, including constructing and opening Riosugo Girls’ Secondary School.
He noted that the establishment of this school will complement Gionseri, St Teresa’s Nyangusu, and Suguta Girls’ Schools, ultimately benefiting the education of girls in the region.
