The government has been asked to tighten security in schools located in areas prone to terrorism in the Coast region.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) National Trustee and Kilindini branch Executive secretary, Dan Aloo, said that this will allow a conducive environment for candidates in the area to sit their national examinations without anxiety and uncertainty of their safety.
Speaking to Education News in Mombasa recently, Aloo said that the presence of safety will boost candidates’ confidence and in turn post stellar results.
Aloo urged all education stakeholders in the region to embrace teamwork to ensure a smooth examination process.
He called on invigilators and supervisors to maintain integrity and discipline during the examination period.
At the same time, Aloo also asked parents to closely monitor their children’s movement during the long November/December holiday.
