Machakos governor Wavinya Ndeti has disclosed that plans are underway for the county government of Machakos to increase bursary allocations from Sh. 80m to Sh. 120m.
Speaking at Kawethei girls high school Ndeti said that revenue collection in the county was promising and with every increase the bursary kitty will be boosted.
“Our revenue collection is doing well and we are increasing bursary allocation to Sh. 120m. Each of the 40 wards will be getting Sh. 3m for bursary so that more of our children can benefit, “said Ndeti.
She urged students to put more effort into their studies for better results adding that parents should create a close relationship with their teenage kids.
According to the governor, parents who are close to their children will know when things go wrong.
“I have a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old too and I can tell you for sure that with such children you need to be very close to them and know what is going on in their lives so that nothing catches you by surprise, “she said.
Governor Ndeti had attended a fundraising ceremony for the construction of a dormitory at the school.
She helped raise over Sh. 7 million together with the area member of parliament Fabian Muli.
The vibrant politician observed that education is among her key agendas and will always be ready for any support.
