Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani has officially inaugurated the first phase of Tandaza Model Education Centre construction at Tsimba Golini in Matuga sub-county.
The state-of-the-art facility, worth Ksh100 million, is expected to enhance both academic and extracurricular development of Kwale students in line with the CBC education model.
The project will feature modern classrooms, an administration block, sports pitches and a swimming pool, all intended to provide a well-rounded educational environment.
The concept for the centre was conceived by Matuga MP Kasim Tandaza as part of efforts to support youth with special talents who may struggle in traditional academic settings.
The center is meant to provide a dedicated space for nurturing skills and offer an inclusive educational environment that caters diverse abilities and interests.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Achani commended Tandaza for his pivotal role in initiating the project.
Achani said the learning institution will serve as a cornerstone for nurturing the talents of Kwale youth, adding that it marks a significant milestone for the county in advancing education and youth development in the region.
She expressed optimism that the new center will help nurture local talent, reduce youth unemployment, and contribute to the broader goal of socio-economic growth in Kwale.
The facility is expected to be completed within the next one year and the center is set to become a model for future educational projects in Kenya.
The governor urged Kwale residents to exercise patience with ongoing development projects and support the government to ensure their successful implementation.
She also encouraged active participation in county public forums, emphasizing that such engagements are crucial for fostering progress and addressing local needs.

MP Tandaza said that the center will accommodate students from diverse backgrounds, and is poised to be a transformative project for the county, aligning with the national vision to empower youth through a talent-focused learning approach.
He said that the initiative will alleviate the financial burden on both parents and the government by reducing reliance on bursaries and fees for targeted students.
“Forcing a student to complete their education solely to receive a low grade is counterproductive. If a student has talents that can be developed, they can achieve success just as effectively as someone who earns top grades,” he said.
