The Government is planning to employ additional 20,000 teachers to tackle the unrealistic teacher-student ratio in schools.

Speaking at Kolanya Girls High School in Busia County on April 3, the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu said that already the Kenya Kwanza administration has employed 50,000 teachers within its first year in office in an effort to bridge the shortage of teachers in schools.

The hiring will take place in July this year.
