The Chair of National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee Ndindi Nyoro has assured the 46,000 Junior Secondary School (JSS) intern teachers that the money to convert them to permanent and pensionable terms is available.

Speaking during the home coming party for Cooperatives Cabinet Secretary (CS) Wycliffe Oparanya, Nyoro downplayed the fears that the money isn’t available after the 2024 Finance Bill failed to pass into law, urging the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to ensure that the teachers are confirmed and issued with PnP letters.

His statement comes barely few days after his National Treasury counterpart John Mbadi, in a local TV interview, stated that there is no money to confirm them.
The teachers have been on internship for two years, with the Employment and Labour Relations Court recently declaring internship as unconstitutional and ordering the TSC to immediately confirm them.
