More than 1,000 youths from Machakos County graduated from the Machakos Youth Service program today, marking a significant milestone.
During the passing-out ceremony, Governor Wavinya Ndeti announced that the graduates would now proceed to various Vocational Training Colleges (VTCs) to pursue skill-based courses at no cost.
“For the past three weeks, these young men and women have undergone intensive training, equipping them with essential life-saving techniques, including emergency response skills,” she said.
Governor Ndeti emphasized the importance of their training, particularly in handling fire-related incidents at home and in workplaces.

“Fire accidents are common, and now you are trained to act swiftly and efficiently in such emergencies. The values you have learned here should guide you as you take the next step in your journey,” she urged.
The graduates will join institutions such as Kituluni, Kyemutheke, Matuu, Mitaboni, and Masii VTCs, where they will receive training in various fields fully sponsored by the county government.
Governor Ndeti expressed gratitude to the National Government, particularly the National Youth Service, for their support in making the program successful.
She reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to empowering young people through such initiatives.
Excited parents, beaming with pride, watched their children march into the venue, celebrating their achievements and looking forward to a brighter future.
