Kuria East NG-CDF office has increased education bursary funds from 50 million shillings last year to 60 million this financial year to accommodate the large number of applicants.
Leading the issuance of bursary cheques to the beneficiaries on Saturday, February 22, area MP Marwa Kitayama affirmed the government’s commitment to educating all children in this country and asked parents to reciprocate by giving continuous parental care.
“The government provides funds for the education of our children, but we also have a big role to play in their moral upbringing,” he said.

Kitayama said that part of the money would be used to finance health care for students whose parents cannot raise the funds needed by the Social Health Authority (SHA).
The MP asked residents to discard old-fashioned practices like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), early marriages to their daughters, and the use of drugs because they are detrimental to their lives.
He asked school principals and the board of school management committees to scrutinize the most deserving cases among the applicants and forward their names to his office for further facilitation.
He advised parents to be responsible for paying some internal dues that schools might require depending on their internal needs to boost the good performance of their respective students.
The lawmaker cautioned principals against distorting his advice to parents and using it to introduce unlawful levies that will burden the parents.
He asked all students to be law-abiding and hardworking in their studies as a sign of exhibiting their pa trout idk to this country.
