The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has released the 2022 KCSE certificates to schools through Sub-County Directors of Education (SCDE) offices across the country.
Candidates and their guardians are requested to collect their certificates from their respective institutions.
As stated in a circular dated June 3, 2024, the certificates had been sent to the relevant sub-county education offices for verification and issuance.
“The Kenya National Examinations Council has dispatched the 2022 KCSE examinations’ certificates for verification and issuance to the bonafide candidates through their respective Sub-County Education offices,” reads part of the circular.
SCDEs have been directed to ensure accuracy of details including the name of the institute and the candidate, the school code, and the candidate’s number as well as quality of printing where all certificates must be free from smudges or faded print and should be in good condition.

Additionally they will check embossing of the hologram and the passport-size photograph which must exactly match the details submitted to KNEC during the candidate’s registration.
Furthermore, education offices will ensure that the certificates delivered correspond to the checklist provided for each examination centre and for all candidates who qualify for the certificates.
The 2022 KCSE exams took place from November to December, with the final paper completed on December 23, 2022.
This scheduling was part of the initiative to normalize the school calendar following disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The results were released early 2023.
