Vihiga County Governor Dr Wilber Ottichilo has agreed to restore the water supply to Ebukanga Technical and Vocational College (TVC), urging the locals to embrace Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) skills.
This latest development comes after a delegation from the college, led by Principal Newton Shivachi, Board of Governors (BOG) chairperson Jackson Andai, and BOG member Rodricks Oware, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at the County headquarters in Mbale earlier this week. The meeting focused on fostering collaboration between the county and the institution to enhance youth skills.
During the meeting, the Governor agreed to restore the water supply to the institution and the neighbourhood through Emmabwi Water Supply Company.

He noted that he would consider drilling a borehole in the institution to enable it to have a steady water supply to meet its demand.
At the same time, the Governor accepted restoring the street lights at Ebukanga market, which will help the locals and the college in a bid to enhance security in the area for trainees and the surrounding community.
Dr Ottichilo donated Ksh100,000 to help the college fabricate its training seats in order to provide a conducive training ground for trainees.

Present during the meeting were County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Environment, Water, Energy, Natural Resources and Climate Change Onzere Mulongo and his Education counterpart Dr Ruth Agesa, Chief Officer Water Noel Mulanda, County TVET Director Charles Avedi, and nominated MCA Hellen Mwanika who also support in marketing and sponsoring trainees in the college.
The meeting came a few months after the new Principal took over the leadership of the institution three months ago and managed to facilitate its handing over from the mentor institution, the Friends National Polytechnic (FNP)—Kaimosi. This was done on January 30, 2025, in a ceremony attended by the FNP Council chair, Prof. Michael Iravo, and Chief Principal Okumu JW Odhiambo.
