The Kenya Kwanza government is keen to support programmes to promote education in Embu County while working with the elected leaders who are also allocated funds towards making the sector a success, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said.
Mr. Gachagua asked the elected leaders to identify areas of weakness before seeking assistance from the National Government on issues of education.

However, the DP surprised the residents when he announced the Government had set aside some KSh5 million for the Nyangwa Boys Secondary School dining hall.
He further said he would soon give a bus to the Embu Senator Mr. Alexander Mundigi who will hand over to the St Mary’s Nyangwa Girls Secondary School which is a sister school to Nyangwa Boys.
Gachagua DP further said that some KSh2 million would be released to cater for a JSS section of the St Mary Nyangwa but cautioned that elected leaders should also strife to ensure kitties under their management benefited education projects.
He was speaking at Nyangwa Boys Secondary Good Samaritan Sports Grounds during the commissioning of Mbeere ACK Bishop Dr. Moses Mashamba as the dean of the ACK Churches.

He thanked Mt Kenya leaders for supporting campaigns against illicit alcohol and drugs noting that apart from disrupting education in the region the two vices have also affected the institution of family.
Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire vowed to tackle the alcohol and drugs’ menace head on and expressed hope that with the support of the county elected leaders, the region was bound to succeed in eradicating illegal brews, third generation alcohol trade abused by young people.
The county administration had already initiated major campaigns to close all the alcohol outlets in residential areas especially in the rural areas where they could be accessed by innocent youth, majority of them learners in schools.
Embu Senator Mr. Mundigi literarily pleaded with the Kenya Kwanza government to support development projects and especially those related to water supply and education because the past county government had discriminated the Mbeere region in development projects.
