Basic Education Principal Secretary (PS) Belio Kipsang has announced that Friday May 17 has been aside as a tree-planting day for all schools in Kenya.
In his statement, the PS said school heads are to ensure that learners and staff participate in the exercise.
The day focusses not only on tree-planting but also on raising awareness about conservation and the vital role forests play in sustaining the environment.
This is one of the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education (MoE) before the reopening of basic education institutions for second term, which are designed to prioritize the safety and well-being of both students and staff and ensuring a seamless reopening of schools.
