Four Kenyan TVETs to compete in global awards in Jamaica

Rift Valley National Polytechnic (RVNP) has been nominated as one of the finalists in the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) 2024 awards in Jamaica.

The college, formerly Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology (RVIST), is competing with Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI), Nyeri National Polytechnic and Kenya School of TVET.

Having scooped Gold for remarkable achievements in the technical sector, RVNP, feted last year in Canada, has this year been placed to compete with Canadian Assiniboine and South Derbshire College of United Kingdom under category of Indigenous Education.

The institution Chief Principal Sammy Chemoiwo was also feted with the prestigious Gold medal award in Leadership and Inclusivity while his predecessor Dr Daniel Mutai settled for Silver in the Lifetime Achievement Award category.

KATTI and Nyeri National Polytechnic will be battling for the sought-after award together with Chinese institution  Jinhua Polytechnic  for brand TVET in the auspicious event slated for September 22 to 27, 2024 in Jamaica.

Nairobi Technical Training Institute Chief Principal Glory K. Mutungi, also Trustee Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI), is favourite for this year’s Leadership in Diversity and Inclusion together with Raelene Stockton and Roger Ramsammy.

Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) Chairperson David Mwangi, also Chief Principal Nyeri National Polytechnic, is pursuing Gold for his effervescence role as astute educator in Outstanding Educator category alongside Chongxia and Ryan Halford.

Kenyan Stanley Omondi has hit the headlines for emerging in the list of Outstanding Student Achievement category where Ledina Banushllari and Leela Subramaniam are also gearing up for the coveted Gold award.

Kenya School of TVET is pursuing coveted Gold award together with Burton and South Derbyshire College and Instituto Federal do de Janeiro under category of Teacher Professional  Development.
