Five soccer players from St. Joseph’s Boys Kitale chosen for trials in Spain

St. Joseph’s Boys National School-Kitale has gained recognition not only for its academic achievements but also for its exceptional performance in sports.

Mr. Nelson Sifuna, the Head of the Directorate of Field Coordination and Co-Curricular Activities at the Ministry of Education, visited the school to congratulate five students selected by the Kenya Academy of Sports. These students have earned a spot in the highly anticipated International Football Trials, which will take place from February 26 to March 3, 2025.

The five players chosen for the trials are Alphonse Okello, Jabal Lugendi, Athman Shungu, Rayse Ochieng, and Inistin Simiyu.

The exclusive program brings together top young football talent from across Kenya, providing an invaluable opportunity to showcase their skills to renowned coaches and scouts from the United States. For these young athletes, it is a potential gateway to international scholarships and a chance to elevate their football careers.

In addition to the trials in the U.S., two other students from St. Joseph’s Boys—Gabriel Silali (Mwangi) and Caleb Muuo—are set to travel to Spain later this year as part of the East African U17-Select team. They will represent the region at the Donosti Cup Tournament, a major event that draws attention from international scouts and offers another platform for their talents to be noticed.
