Five regions have picked their teams for the Kenya Secondary School Sports Association (KSSSA) national level football games, which are scheduled to take place in Kisumu County.

Kiringari Boys secondary school from Central Region will be making a return to the nationals, following their participation in the 2023 championships held in Kakamega.

Last year, Kiringari Boys won the championship by defeating Kiaga secondary school 4-0 in the final held at Kagumo High in Nyeri County on July 22, 2023. This year, they successfully defended their title and will be the sole school returning to the nationals.

Musingu school from Western Kenya will also be participating. Under the guidance of Coach Brendan Mwinamo, a Kakamega school alumnus who won titles with Kakamega in 2017 and 2018, and there are chances that Musingu will be vying for the title.

The Musingu Boys recently clinched the Western Schools Regional Boys Football Championship by narrowly defeating Munyuki secondary 2-1, reclaiming a title they had not held for 19 years.

The team was led by Anan Okumu, younger brother of Harambee Stars defender Joseph Okumu. Musingu’s journey, however, faced controversy when their semi-final match against Kibabii Secondary at Bungoma High School was abandoned after fans stormed the field in anger over a red card issued to their defender.
