KCSE candidates sit their exams. Five from Makande Girls, Mombasa, have been admitted to hospital after inhaling gas that is suspected to have leaked from neighbouring dealer shops.

Five candidates of Makande Girls Secondary School in Mombasa are admitted at Makadara General Hospital after they were exposed to a suspected gas leak from a neighbouring dealer shop.

According to reliable reports, the leak spread in the school as a Kiswahili paper was going on yesterday, forcing examination officials to disrupt it when the girls began to faint.

With 90 candidates registered for the examinations this year, emergency responses had to be called to restore normalcy, including transferring the remaining students to the nearby Makande Boys to finish the day’s exams.
