Hundreds of students at Matuga Girls High School and Mwachome Primary School in Kwale County have received a generous donation of school shoes through the First Lady Rachel Ruto’s initiative.
The programme aimed at empowering and supporting students seeks to ensure that learners have the basic necessities to focus on their education.
Speaking during the shoe distribution exercise at Matuga Girls, Chief of Staff in the Office of the First Lady, Mary Muinde said that the initiative is a reflection of the First Lady’s unwavering commitment to promoting equal opportunities for all, particularly the underprivileged students.
“This noble programme to address a significant challenge faced by many students in this area, who often struggle to meet basic educational needs,” she said.
Muinde noted that providing school shoes not only eases the financial burden on families but also enhances the students’ dignity and confidence, enabling them to focus on their studies without distractions.

“The First Lady believes that education is the foundation for a better future, and programmes like these are a testament to her dedication to nurturing the next generation,” she said.
