Female teacher arraigned in court on suspicion of murder of friend

A primary school teacher was on Wednesday arraigned in a Bondo court in connection with the murder of a 40-year old man.

Jean Ogol, a senior teacher at Sangla Primary School in Rarieda Sub-county, is accused of killing Erick Marwara together with her co-accused Henry Opiyo.

It was established that Marwara had inherited Ogol and they were staying together before his death.

The duo were arrested after Marwara’s body was found hanging on a rope tied to the roof of an incomplete semi-permanent house on  August 10, 2024 at Matangwe village, Barkowino Sub-location.

According to preliminary police reports, Marwara’s body had visible physical injuries on his nose, left leg, right hand and blood stains on his trouser.

“It was suspected that he was beaten and killed elsewhere before being hanged inside the unfinished house. His legs were slightly touching the floor,” stated the report.

The body was moved to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.

The suspects who had been released on a bond of Ksh300,000 each on Wednesday appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate John Nandi.

However, they failed to take plea after the investigating officers requested for more time to conclude investigations and present the file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

The matter will be mentioned on September 3.
