A tragic incident unfolded at Mawego National Polytechnic in Homa Bay County, where a 20-year-old expectant student, Sheryl Awino, was brutally stabbed to death yesterday in a suspected love triangle.

Sheryl, a first-year Land Surveying student, was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, who is also enrolled at the same institution. The attack was particularly horrific, resulting in the loss of her unborn child after she was stabbed in the abdomen with a kitchen knife.

Her father, John Odongo, received a heartbreaking call from Sheryl’s roommate on yesterday morning, informing him that she had been admitted to Kendu Adventist Hospital in Rachuonyo North. Sadly, she did not survive the injuries inflicted upon her during this violent act.

In the aftermath of the incident, Odongo’s inquiries revealed that Sheryl had been in her hostel until Friday evening, when she welcomed her boyfriend.

They reportedly spent the night together, and no one suspected that a tragedy was unfolding. It wasn’t until a commotion was heard from their room yesterday morning around 5am that the severity of the situation became evident.
