Kenya is set to host the highly anticipated International School Sport Federation (ISF) World Cross Country Championships for schools which is set to take place on May 10-14, 2024.
The event which was lastly hosted by Slovakia, will take place at Ngong’ race course in Nairobi County and will attract over 500 children drawn from 20 countries and born in 2006 and 2011.
Both boys and girls will take part in the event with the race for girls being slightly less distance compared to boys. The Under-12 years will an average 1.2 kilometres to 2.5 kilometres m while Under-18 years will run a maximum of 5.5 kilometres.

The Principal Secretary, State Department for Basic Education in the Ministry of Education Dr. Belio Kipsang’ while presiding over the official launch for the forthcoming championships, thanked the ISF for nominating Kenya to host the 2024 World Schools Cross Country Championship.
“We feel privileged for this opportunity to be the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to host the ISF world cross country for schools,” Kipsang’ said.
Dr Kipsang’ further added that the launch of the event affirms Kenya’s commitment to organise and ensure the success of the competition.
Dr Kipsang’ was accompanied by various Government officials including Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Evans Achoki, the President of Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Kipchumba Maiyo and CEO Kenya Academy of Sports Dr. Doreen Odhiambo.
