Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has said the government will transform universities to not only meet local demands but also compete globally.
The CS, speaking at the launch of the Commission for University Education (CUE) Strategic Plan for 2024–2028 in Nairobi, noted that with the support of the strategic plan, they will build a stronger future for youth and the entire nation.
“The newly launched strategic plan will provide the essential roadmap as CUE works with universities through the transition to Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET),” the CS said, noting that the strategic plan is designed to position universities as central actors in the reforms required to meet the demands of a rapidly changing world.
The CS added that the strategic plan aligns with key policy frameworks like Sessional Paper No. 1 of 2019 on Education, the Draft Sessional Paper of 2024, and the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms (PWPER) Report.
