Directors, teachers in a case where student died mysteriously allowed access to school

Lawyer Danstan Omari was representing the teachers and directors of the school who were arrested after a student died under mysterious circumstances.

Two directors and three teachers of Joy Garden Primary School who had been arrested following the death of a grade eight pupil have been allowed to access the school.

This is after the court varied its earlier orders which barred them from visiting or going near the institution located in Umoja-Tena area in Nairobi.

The five are Anthony Mwangi Kimani, Vanice Kerubo Bosire, Jane Waithera Kimani, James Mungai Gachimo and Caroline Nthio Matheka.

At the same time, the court will issue its ruling on whether Anthony Mwangi Kimani will be given his passport to allow him travel to United Kingdom.

However, the prosecution opposed the application, saying the investigations are still on-going and therefore the passport should not be released.

The five, represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, were arrested after the pupil died mysteriously, with school claiming that he fell from the seventh floor of the building hosting the school, a claim disputed by the family of Wesley Njiru.

The body of the boy was found lying on the balcony of the school on Friday March 9, 2024 after he was reported missing.
