Former Kajiado West Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Moranga Morekwa who fought for girls’ rights to education will be buried on Friday at his Kisii home.
A church service will be held at Nkoroi SDA Church in Kajiado North on Wednesday April 17, 2024 before the funeral service at Igoma Primary School, Kisii.
The late worked as Mbita DCC until his demise. Homa Bay County Commissioner (CC) Moses Lilan had said the colleague was found dead in his official residence in Mbita town during Easter weekend.
During his time as a DCC in charge of Kajiado West, the administrator held a number of raids on parents who do not take their children to school and those who practice Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
The no nonsense administrator took strict actions on men who impregnated school girls, once gaining popularity when he advised men who preferred school girls to buy their wives school uniform.
Kajiado County Governor Joseph ole Lenku remembered the administrator for his acumen and strict administrative skills which he deployed to deal with the many challenges facing Kajiado West, top among them land disputes and harmful cultural practices.
“His diplomatic skills saw many antagonists in the land sector come to the table and discuss possible solutions to various disputes,” Lenku said in a statement.
Morekwa served in Kajiado West for three years and was also DC Kajiado North when it covered Kajiado West and East regions.
