Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Julius Ogamba has said that the government has acknowledged various pitfalls in the new university funding model.
He added that a committee is currently fine-tuning it to ensure all concerns raised are resolved.
The CS however praised it, terming it the most suitable as it is tailored to cater for individual needs based on the financial standing of a student’s family.
“Let us not expect everything to be accomplished within a short period but with patience and tolerance we will succeed,” he said.
CS Ogamba was speaking after overseeing the distribution of KCSE examination papers in Nyamira South sub-county.
He lauded invigilators and supervisors for putting in work to ensure zero exam malpractice.
“We are happy that the examinations are going on smoothly despite isolated cases of alleged malpractice. I am satisfied with your surveillance so far,” he said.
Flanked by Nyamira County Commissioner Erastus Mbui and County Director of Education Joshua Kega among other officials, he visited Nyaikuro Secondary School in Manga sub-county to inspect examination progress.
Ogamba said that the government has made adequate plans to ensure that all candidates get placement in institutions of higher learning.
