Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has officially launched of a Jitume Digital Hub at the Kajiado East Technical and Vocational College.
The centre will provide youth with access to digital services, skills, and opportunities to enable them take advantage of technology for job creation.
Owalo reiterated the government’s commitment to creating employment for the youth saying they can now work remotely for different clients abroad.
The CS said apart from learning the digital hub will be used by the youth to earn a living.
The government is setting up 1,450 ICT hubs across the country, in all the wards and launching free public Wi-Fi hotspots in every corner of the country to ensure easy access to internet and digital skills training for the young people.

The government has also laid 100,000 fiber optic cables across the country, making it easier for citizens to access the internet.
The CS said the government has so far trained 390,968 youth and created 139,071 digital jobs through this initiative.
Present during the launch include Kajiado East MP Kakuta Maimai, Dr Joselyn Nkonge Principal of Kajiado East Technical and Vocational College, and Julius Ole Ntaiya representing the Chairman of the Board of Governors as well as MCA Joyce Yaipaso among other government officials.
