County launches water project to address shortage in schools

Homabay County Governor Gladys Wanga has said her government has partnered with Netherland based Durian During Water Company to provide sufficient clean water for the residents of Homabay town and its environs.

She revealed that schools will be given a priority since most institutions in the area have perennial water problems.

Speaking during the launch of a Ksh15 million water project, the governor urged the beneficiaries to promptly pay their bills  to enable the county maintain and sustain the project.

Duriann During Water Company Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Wim Drossaert said his company’s main objective is to provide enough clean water for the residents of Homabay County.

“We want to work in partnership with this government and other stakeholders to provide sufficient water for all people in this region.”He said.

Homabay Water Sanitation Water Company (HOMAWASCO) Manager Dan Oketch said upon completion, the project will increase the water supply from the current 5 to 8 million litres daily.

Oketch issued a stern warning to anyone who will be caught vandalizing the water pipes.
