Leaders in Imenti Central sub-county have raised concerns over the poor academic performance in the area and called for concerted efforts to reverse the trend.
The leaders now want all education stakeholders to go back to the drawing board and come up with solutions to revive performance in the area.
Speaking during the issuance of a Ksh1 million cheque for the construction of an ICT centre at Kathiranga ICT Resource Center, the Chairman of the Imenti Central Professional Association, Charles Mbogori, noted that if the trend was not reversed soon candidates in the area would end up with poor examination results.
He also urged parents to take their parenting seriously and ensure their children are not distracted from pursuing education.

“Many children are dropping out of school due to alcohol and drug abuse. This has also contributed to the decline in academic performance. For those who have dropped out, I urge parents to return them back to school,” he said.
The Association Secretary, Brian Mutembei, vowed to continue pushing for education reforms until a lasting solution to the crisis is found.
