Cabinet Secretary for Education Julius Ogamba has today announced the appointment new Council at Moi University located in Eldoret.
The Council will be chaired by Professor Noah Midamba. Members comprise Prof Ronald Wasike, Dr Mercy Wambura Kanyara, Dr Edward Sambili and Anne waceke Makori.
In a gazette notice dated January 17, 2025, Education CS said the Council will serve for three years effective today.
“In the exercise of the powers conferred by section 36 (1) of the Universities Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Education appoints Professor Noah Midamba to be Chairperson of Moi Unversity effective January 17, 2025,” reads part of the notice.
Ogamba has revoked the appointment of Dr Humphrey Kimani Njuguna, Prof Clara Samiji Momanyi, Eusilah Jepskogei Ngeni and Susan Amlango Aletia who have been serving as the members of the Council.
The Council is the supreme governing body of the university mandated to oversee the activities and operations of the institution on behalf of the State.
It is also responsible for ensuring that there are adequate structures in place for the efficient management of the university.

Moi University has been bedeviled by myriads of problems. The once blossoming institution is teetering on the brink of collapse due to bad financial and administrative decisions that has led to huge debts, skewed projects and inflated workforce.
