Ukwala village in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County has been thrown into celebrations after Daisy Chebet, scored a B+ in the 2024 KCSE results.
The achievement has been termed as historic and a motivation to students especially the girl child who is faced by various challenges which include FGM and teen marriages.
Chebet, who comes from the Ogiek community, narrated the hardships she faced in her quest for success, noting she was determined to overcome them.
“As you can see, we are not rich and I had a problem with books and fees. Here, girls also face many threats, which include FGM and teen pregnancies but I was determined to overcome,” she said.

Chebet however pegged her success on discipline, hardwork, respect and the fear of God, further promising to uphold the virtues in the University.
“Discipline, hardwork, determination and the fear of God helped me succeed and I will uphold these virtues even when I join university. I aspire to succeed and transform my family and the society in general,” added Chebet.
Her mother Ronnies Chepkoech, could not hide her joy, noting that she has been encouraging Chebet to concentrate on her education for the sake of the family.
“As a family we are so happy. I have been talking to my daughter and encouraging my girl to work hard and today we have seen good results. We really thank God,” said Chepkoech.
The family expressed high hopes in Chebet, further encouraging students from the area to emulate their daughter in order to transform their families, the area and community at large.
The Community on its part highlighted the challenges facing education in the area, urging both levels of government to urgently address the problems.
