Catholic church praised for playing key role in promoting education

The Catholic Church has been praised for playing a key role in promoting education as well as offering shelter for orphaned children.

Kisii County Senator Essy Okenyuri said that Catholic Women Association (CWA) of Sengera Parish in Bomachoge Chache Constituency have stood firm to demonstrate the true spirit of Christianity which calls for service to underprivileged in society.

“Yours is not a mother head role mission but spiritual and educational nourishment to our youth and adults,” she said.

She said that women in their individual capacity as well as through their CWA have stood as pillars of the church and underscored their commitment towards improving the welfare of the underprivileged.

During a Mass that was presided over by Father Zachary Mosomi, Senator Okenyuri promised to donate seed money to help the CWA in the region to start a revolving fund that will help them set up small businesses for their daily upkeep.

Father Mosomi thanked the senator for her courtesy call to the church and promised that the church will continue praying for the country and its leaders for tranquility to return.

He asked parents and other leaders in society to live an upright life by depending on God to enable the youth to copy them as they transition into adulthood.
