KCPE, KPSEA and KCSE candidates in Bunyala, Busia County, have been warned against engaging in cheating.
Speaking during an interview with Education News at his office on Monday, the Bunyala Sub County Director of Education George Owuoche emphasized that strict repercussions await those involved in any cheating during the upcoming examinations.
Owuoche urged the candidates to utilize the remaining time to diligently revise the material taught by their teachers.
He stressed that cheating constitutes a legal offense, and individuals caught in the act risk arrest and legal prosecution.
Moreover, the education official implored security agencies within the sub county to intensify efforts in combating disco matanga, creating a conducive environment for candidates preparing for the national exams.
He also urged the parents of the candidates to provide their children with ample time for revision as the final exams draw near.
Owuoche further noted that 3041 candidates will sit for KCPE with 1492 girls and 1539 boys in the sub-county.
“Additionally, 2684 grade six candidates, comprising 1349 boys and 1345 girls, will take KPSEA exams,” he stated.
As for the KCSE, the Director highlighted that 1101 candidates will participate, consisting of 653 boys and 448 girls further noting that there will be 40 exam centers for KCPE and 11 centers for KCSE.
He also announced that effective measures have been put in place to ensure that national exam materials are efficiently distributed to school heads.
