Many Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) teachers did not see it coming. Many thought engaging them in internships for a long while was a ploy. This compelled them to form welfare groups to agitate for their Permanent and Pensionable terms. The end of 2024 marked an essential turnaround in their profession.
Busia County JSS teachers have decided to lead the way in appreciating the Teachers Service Commison (TSC) Secretariat under the leadership of Dr Nancy Macharia. Education News has authoritatively learned that the big day will come on February 28. A cross section of teachers affirmed that the event was at an advanced stage.
Contrary to the usual way of appreciation, the teachers drawn from the seven sub-counties have decided to organize a mother-of-all fun day at the famous Mundika Primary School in Matayos Sub-county.
They claimed the event would be purely meant to appreciate Dr Macharia for her tireless efforts that culminated in their conversion to permanent terms.

A poster privy to Education News said that tug-of-war, balloon racer, blindfolding games, sack race, short relay,100m, and bucket filling as some of the activities of the fun competition. Teso North, Teso Central, Teso South, Butula, Nambale, Matayos, Samia, and Bunyala sub counties are expected to present their competitors for the event.
“We want to ensure that the event becomes so loud until it reaches our head office at Upper Hill,” said one of the elated moguls turned maestros. Fun-day activities for teachers have been found to relieve stress, improve teachers’ physical fitness, and bring socialization, in addition to inculcating teamwork among the teaching force.
