Bungoma Woman Representative Catherine Wambilianga has launched an ambitious initiative aimed at availing 990,000 sanitary pads to schoolgirls across the nine constituencies in the county.
The event took place at Kapsokwony D.E.B. Primary School in Mt Elgon Constituency and is part of a broader project focussed on keeping girls in school.

She highlighted the critical issue of absenteeism among young girls, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, due to a lack of access to proper sanitary products.
“By providing sanitary pads, we are addressing a challenge that affects academic performance and confidence,” she said.
The second term lawmaker said that the initiative is sponsored by President William Ruto, underscoring his commitment to supporting girls’ education.
Wambilianga noted that the pads would be distributed across all schools in Bungoma and urged school heads to collect the supplies from their respective Sub-county Director of Education.
