Bungoma County Government has strengthened its commitment to digital education by expanding its partnership with EIDU, a global leader in technology-driven learning solutions. This initiative aims to enhance early childhood education by integrating digital tools into learning environments, benefiting over 60,000 learners in 450 Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) schools across all 45 wards.
During the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Engineer Agnes Wachiye, underscored the significance of the partnership in advancing modern learning methodologies.
“This collaboration marks a pivotal step in modernizing our education system. By incorporating digital technology into ECDE classrooms, we are enhancing the quality of education and equipping our learners with essential 21st-century skills,” she stated.
Under the agreement, Bungoma County and EIDU will jointly finance the initiative, covering 50% of the costs to ensure affordability and sustainability. The program will equip learners with smartphones pre-installed with the EIDU School App, which offers interactive mathematics and language content aligned with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) and approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

EIDU’s representative, Joy Wesonga, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to bridging educational gaps through technology.
“Our mission is to provide equitable access to quality learning resources. This partnership enables us to support young learners by integrating innovative digital tools into their education,” she noted.
The digital platform also features offline functionality, ensuring accessibility in both urban and rural areas. Additionally, it enables county officials to monitor real-time classroom data, track attendance and enrollment, and leverage data-driven insights for improved policy formulation and resource allocation.
Bungoma County has successfully piloted the program across all wards and is now preparing for a full-scale implementation. This initiative reinforces the county’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance education outcomes, positioning Bungoma as a leader in digital learning integration.
By adopting technology-driven solutions, the county is setting a benchmark for other regions, underscoring the transformative potential of digital education in fostering inclusive and effective learning environments.
