The Kanduyi Constituency legislator in Bungoma County John Makali has launched nine classrooms at Bungoma DEB Comprehensive School to accommodate the Grade 9 learners in the Junior Secondary School (JSS).
Addressing the press after the inspection of the classes which were financed through the NG-CDF in conjunction with Ministry of Education (MoE), Makali said that his office will continue giving a key focus on the infrastructural development of schools in the area so as to give the students a conducive learning environment.
He added he will consult more with the MoE officials from Bungoma South Sub-county to ensure that schools that lack enough classes are given more priority in funds allocation for construction.
He noted that vetting for the bursaries kitty is ongoing whereby they have received KSh20 million in this first quarter of the year urging parents to chip in more towards their students’ tuition fees.
“Last year we received a total of KSh54 million and so we hope this funds we have received will help pay school fees for the needy students,” said Makali.
Donation
Makali also inspected the ongoing construction of 4 ultra -modern classrooms at a cost of KSh5 million which was given to the school as a donation by President William Samoei Ruto following his visit to Bungoma last year.
“As the second largest school in the country, with an astounding enrollment of 5,700 learners at Bungoma DEB Comprehensive School is in need for additional infrastructure which is critical,” reiterated MP.
On his part the Bungoma County Director of Education Pius Ng’oma accompanied with the Bungoma South Sub-county Director Kiprop Mulwa said that the National Government through the State Department of Basic Education will continue allocating more funds to improve the learning environment in all public schools through construction of more classes and provision of more learning materials like textbooks for both teachers and learners for quality education.
