Anxiety as KCSE results of St Peters Abwao Secondary in Migori withheld

Parents of St Peters Abwao Secondary School in Migori, have asked the Ministry of Education to explain why KNEC withheld its 2025 KCSE examination results.

Led by the school Principal Peter Magawe, they complained that the affected candidates are anxious and needed to be soothed by releasing the results.

“My son has not eaten anything after learning about the mess,” said Anne Mwikwabe.

The institution was rated the best in the county in 2023 when it posted a mean score of 9.7 KCSE examinations.

However, Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba speaking during release of the 2024 KCSE results on Thursday January 9 said that KNEC has withheld results of 2,829 candidates over suspicion of engaging in exam irregularities, pending investigations in 30 days.

The parents asked area MP Dr Peter Masara to intervene and follow up the matter.

Migori County Director of Education Jacob Onyiego confirmed that the examination results were withheld by the examination Council over alleged irregularities.

“Investigations are going on to confirm that there was no cheating,” he said.

He assured parents that if the authorities found the school innocent after investigations, then they results will be released.
