As the KCSE theory papers enter day 3, officials manning the examinations in Migori have reported good progress as even those doing exams from hospitals are comfortable.

Speaking in Suna East, County Commissioner Kisulu Mutua revealed that the few in hospital are just as happy as their colleagues in school.

“We started the examination well although some candidates are doing it from their hospital bed; so far we have not experienced any hitches,” he said.

On Tuesday morning, accompanied by County Director of Education Jacob Onyiego and all top county security officers, Kisilu asked parents, teachers and candidates not to fall prey to the allure of fake examination papers.

“All examinations are issued, conducted and certified by the government. Forget fake things behind the streets meant to mislead candidates who have taken long to prepare for their examinations,” he said.

The officers revealed that the county is presenting a total of 26,989 candidates in 312 centres.

County Director of Education (CDE) Jacob Onyiego revealed that all examination centre managers, under the strict escort of security officers, will be collecting examination materials from the 14 containers positioned at strategic points across the county.

He said that there were 67 people sitting their examination as private candidates and asked the supervisors and invigilators to accord them similar treatment as their counterparts in the regular systems.

“These are also candidates struggling to better their lives through education. I ask our officers to accord them enough security and services required for their successful participation in this important national exercise,” he said.

He said 5 candidates were sitting their examinations from hospital and wished them quick recovery as he assured the parents of their safety.

“Let out parents not worry much about their sons and daughters doing the examinations from hospital because these are government facilities like schools where they are taken care of. We pray for their quick recovery,” he said.

The County Police Commander Francis Nguli said that all security measures have been put in place to ensure successful progress of the examinations.

He cited a few hiccups in the transportation of examination materials to the schools in the interior but thanked the determined officers who always reported at the collection centres punctually for the exercise.
