A sombre mood engulfed St. Mary’s Girls High School after a tragic road accident claimed the life of one of its students. The accident occurred on the famous Chepsangor Road, which connects Nandi Hills to Kopere. The student was returning to school after the end of the half-term holiday.
Education News learnt that the student succumbed to her injuries shortly after the accident. The Toyota HaV vehicle, which was carrying the students, lost control, swerved, and landed in a ditch at the well-known Kona Moja. The vehicle is reported to have had 18 students on board at the time of the accident.
One student, who was in critical condition, was later referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for specialized treatment. The other 16 injured students are in stable condition, as confirmed by Dr. Richard Chepkwony, the Nandi Hills Medical Superintendent.
