Academic giants in Central come out on top in KCSE exam standings

The academic giants in Mt Kenya region recorded impressive 2024 KCSE results.

In the region, the leading school were Mang’u, MaryHill, Murang’a High, Nanyuki High, Njiiri, Thika schools produced the students with straight As in the KCSE.

Murang’a High continued to post impressive as 50 candidates attained grade A up from the previous year of 15.

Principal Willy Kuria said in the past years the institution has been posting better grades, thus sending more students to the university owing to close cooperation among the stakeholders.

The school send 404 students to the university.

“We had 50 As, A-108, B+-110, B 66, B- 63, C+ 24, C 9, C-6,” said Kuria.

He noted that the school is yet to verify results for 27 out of the 436 candidates.

Nanyuki High School Principal Solomon Kipkoech said two candidates registered A plain, 53 A minus, 79 B+, 91 B, B- 45, C +46, C 15, C -7, and D+3.

The School Principal Chief Principal Solomon Kipkoech said the school registered a mean 8.9 compared to 8.897 of the previous year.

“The leadership at the school is determined to ensure the learners have the best atmosphere for their studies,” said Kipkoech.

MaryHill Girls High in Thika, 80 candidates posted A plain, 181 A minus, B+139, B 111, B-37 posting a mean of 10.051 up from the 9,4423. It had presented 587 candidates.

In the score sheet, the school presented 587 candidates and scored a mean score of 10.051 up from the previous 9.4423.

Improved results

Njiiri High School registered an improvement with six As and 15 A minus as the teachers continued downloading the results.

The Principal Gibson Mwangi said the school on the first day managed to acquire results for 30 out of 540 candidates.

“We are disappointed that the results are trickling in so slowly because the server keeps failing. The government should make sure the server is working well so all candidates can get their results in time,” said Mwangi.

Kianyaga Boys High school in Kirinyaga, the Principal Mbote said they presented 387 candidates with 10 scoring A-, B+27, B 38, B-75 C+98, C71C-51, D+16, and D1.

In the previous year, the school registered a mean of 7.0105 where 176 attained university entry grades.

Thika High School registered a mean of 7.756, with 355 candidates out of 463 transiting to the university.

The Principal Julius Muraya said Bokeya Ibrahim Chacha had A of 83 points.

“The school recorded an A and 24 A minus thus 76.7 per cent transition to the university,” said Muraya.

At Kiaguthu Boys, the Principal Bernard Kamanja said they posted a mean of 7.161 with nine candidates led by Mwangi Allan Macharia acquiring A minus grade.

Others who scored A minus include Princeton Macharia, Munene Moses Ngigi, Muchina James Macharia, Kinyanjui Fredrick Kimani, Njeri Isaac Ndungu, Mbogo Charles Gicharu and Njuguna John Kinuthia.

Kiambu based Mary Leakey Girls High School, Principal Beth Githaiga said they managed a mean of 7.04 with five acquiring A minus grade led by Gitonga Nicole Nduta, Sancho Sisley Patience, Ruth Nyadzua Denje, Abigael Bakhita Mumbua, and Maina Angela Nyambura.

At Mugoiri Girls, Igamba Janice Muthoni, Karua Valerie Wanjiku, Watutwe Lydia Njeri, Njoroge Joy Wanjiru and Karonji Praise Victoria scored A minus.

Kiambu High Peter Kinyua said two candidates attained an A, A-23, B+39, B 59, B-62 and C+82.

“We presented 409 candidates where 267 attained university entry grades,” said Kinyua.

At Ngunguru Secondary School in Mathira in Nyeri, the Principal Joram Mwaniki said 10 candidates will proceed to the university.

Mwaniki said Kararu Brandon Ndung’u attained an A minus, being the first since the school was established.
