Out of 500 applicants for Junior Secondary School (JSS) intern jobs in West Pokot as the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) advertised, only 88 were found fit for further vetting before being posted to different stations across the county.
Speaking during the rigorous exercise, Deputy County Director Paul Kamas asked the successful candidates to organize their professional and academic documents in readiness for further scrutiny.
He asked teachers to maintain the highest levels of discipline in the stations they will be posted to by studying carefully the Code of Conduct for Teachers to avoid unnecessary trouble.
Kamas emphasized the need for the teachers to be productive at their places of work so that they can leave behind a sound legacy.

“It’s completely irresponsible for you to fail in sharpening learners who would be a beacon of hope in our country,” he said, adding that the lives of learners are solely in their hands and as such, teachers have to toe the professional line to the letter.
“We don’t expect any cases of indiscipline and irresponsibility. Let’s be the teachers the Teachers Service Commission expects,” he said.
