3 pupils injured as electricity pole falls near them in Kisumu

It is dangerous for children to go close to electricity poles. Three pupils are nursing injuries in Kisumu after one fell near them.

Three pupils of Central Primary School in Kisumu Municipality have been injured after a Kenya Power and Lighting Company pole fell near them.

Initial reports indicate that the duo was going home for lunch when tragedy struck.

The head teacher Elly Otieno who confirmed the incident said he rushed the three pupils to the Kisumu County Hospital for medical attention.

Kisumu Central Sub-county Commander Peter Mulai said he was coordinating with KPLC so that power in that area could be controlled to avoid further mishaps.

Otieno said one of the pupils was taken for an X-ray examination while the other two are undergoing treatment.

The incident caused a major panic near the school, forcing other pupils to scamper to safety.
