Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos has today released the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results at New Mitihani House in South C, Nairobi.
Some 962,512 candidates wrote the exam as compared to 899,453 in 2023 in 10754 centres across the country. The number represents 7.19 per cent increase.
Some 30370 examiners marked the exams in 40 marking centres.
For the first time, female candidates were more compared to male. Girls were 482,202 while boys were 480,310 representing 50.1 per cent and 49.9 per cent.
Some 1693 candidates scored A representing 0.18 per cent as compared to 1216 in 2023.
246 391 candidates representing 25.53 per cent attained C+ and above which is an entry grade to university.
476,889 candidates representing 49.41 per cent atained grade of C+ and above.
Some 605774 candidates representing 62.7 per cent got D+ and above.
91 officials across the country were involved in the malpactises.
Candidates will access the 2023 KCSE results through KNEC website.
“Individual 2023 KCSE candidates’ examination results will be accessed online through a link on the KNEC website or https://results.knec.ac.ke ,” CS said.
KNEC CEO Dr Daivi Njegere said, “we had no early single case of exposure to the exams. One session was administered in morning and another in the afternoon.”
The CS said the results would be available immediately after the release.
CS was accompanied by PS Basic Education Dr Belio Kipsang and counterpart for Higher Education Beatrice Inyangala.
Some 840 candidates who were invoved in malpractises have their results cancelled.
Also, results for 2829 candidates who were suspected to have been involved in cheating have been withheld.
On Tuesday, KNEC released the 2024 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) reports.
