One hundred instructors from Belgut Technical Training Institute (TTI) and Kericho National Polytechnic have successfully completed training in Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET). The training, offered by the Kenya School of Technical and Vocational Training, aimed at enhancing the instructors’ efficiency and aligning them with CBET standards.
Kericho National Polytechnic Principal Sammy Cheruiyot highlighted the importance of the training, describing it as a vital tool to help instructors align with the new aspects of the curriculum.

“This training is a crucial tool to synchronize with the new components of CBET. Today, we have 100 instructors who have successfully completed their training,” said Cheruiyot.
He also mentioned that the institution partnered with various stakeholders, and over 60 instructors who missed the training will have an opportunity to participate in future sessions.
Bernard Korir, the Principal of Belgut TTI, welcomed the training, expressing confidence that it would help improve the implementation of CBET.
“This training is very important. As the principal of this institution, I believe it will significantly boost the implementation of CBET,” said Korir.
Regional TVET Training Officer Peter Cheruiyot congratulated the instructors on completing their training. He also noted that CBET would soon undergo an evaluation to ensure it meets the needs of trainees across the country.
